Looking Back at Looking

My goal is to document the ongoing, everchanging visual vignettes that are created at Obscura Antiques and Oddities.

That said,  I first feel the need to look back at the year that just was, 2010.  Offering up from our archives looks you could have seen if you had able to make it into the shop.  To save you from heartbreak let me first mention that the vast majority of what you are about to see has already been sold, at the end of the post I will annotate the few objects still available.

I think that it is appropriate for the first entry to be about the act of looking.  Whether it is an image of the eye itself , or the juxtaposition of competing gazes, lots of thinking and looking seems to go on between the objects at Obscura.

Have a look.

as promised, the few items still available are:   wooden cut-out of the chef,  coyote,  baby-head mask,  old lady-head mask, drunk monk hand puppet, crying white statue, and the mesh Oddfellow's mask with the bushy eyebrows

  2. Hello Shopgirl! What a good idea! I'm always interested in seeing what new items you have to show at Obscura...and if I begin to weep because I can't possibly own it myself, well that's my problem. Bring it on!

  3. Shopgirl, If you ever come across old Masonic Aprons or any old Masonic items how could I purchase them over the internet? Mail-order?

    Thanks
